These terms set out the rules for using GetTaught as a learner, teacher, or visitor. By using the platform, you agree to these terms.
1. Introduction
GetTaught is operated by [Business Name] ("we", "us", "our"). These Terms of Use apply to everyone who accesses or uses the platform, including learners and teachers.
By browsing, registering, or booking through GetTaught, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
2. Definitions
- Learner — a user who books a session with a teacher.
- Teacher — a user who lists their skills and offers sessions.
- Booking — a confirmed session between a learner and a teacher.
- Platform Fee — the 10% fee retained by GetTaught from the teacher's hourly rate.
- Session — the agreed lesson, class, or meeting between learner and teacher.
3. Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity that happens under your account.
Teacher accounts require an approved application. We reserve the right to reject applications or suspend accounts that provide false information or breach these terms.
4. Teacher Listings and Availability
Teachers set their own hourly rate, skills, location, availability, and whether they teach online, at a fixed location, or travel to the learner.
All profile information must be accurate and not misleading. We may remove or suspend listings that are false, inappropriate, or harmful.
5. Booking and Cancellation
Learners can book available sessions through the platform. Payment is taken when the booking is confirmed.
Bookings can be cancelled up to 24 hours before the scheduled session for a full refund. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance, or failure to attend a session, may not be eligible for a refund at our discretion.
6. Payments and Platform Fee
GetTaught handles payments securely between learners and teachers. The teacher receives 90% of their listed hourly rate, and GetTaught retains a 10% platform fee.
Payments are only taken when a booking is made. Payouts to teachers are processed after the session has been confirmed as complete.
7. Conduct
All users must behave respectfully and lawfully. Harassment, discrimination, fraud, abuse, or any illegal activity is strictly prohibited.
We may suspend or terminate any account that breaches these terms or otherwise harms the platform or other users.
8. Content and Intellectual Property
Teachers and learners keep ownership of the content they upload, such as profile text and photos. By uploading content, you give GetTaught a licence to display it on the platform as needed.
You must only upload content you have the right to share, and it must not infringe anyone else's intellectual property or privacy rights.
9. Reviews
Reviews can only be left after a completed session. Reviews must be honest, fair, and not defamatory. We may remove reviews that breach these rules.
10. Limitation of Liability
GetTaught provides a marketplace that connects learners and teachers. We are not a party to the actual session and do not guarantee the quality, safety, or outcome of any lesson.
To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount paid for the relevant booking.
11. Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms or are inactive for an extended period.
Termination does not affect bookings or payouts that were already confirmed before the account was closed.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes means you accept the updated terms.
